We have been loving and discipling many young adults and children in a central area of Haiti since 2009. Our goal is to help them get an education so that they can better their lives, their family's lives, and their community. While meeting these needs, we are also encouraging them to serve others with Jesus. But the need outweighs our resources.
Haiti, the poorest country in the western hemisphere, where only 50% of the children attend school, and of this only 20% reach secondary school (US equivalent to 7th grade). Haiti is the only country in the Americas with an adult literacy rate of less than 50% and a youth literacy rate of less than 80%. But God has given these young adults a desire to learn.
Haiti's current situation and national education system is challenging. Teachers aren’t getting paid, and gang violence or another disruption is always lurking. These children seek an education, which we take for granted. Please pray for how and what God would want you to do.
Estimated costs:
Haiti’s current infant mortality rate in 2023 is circa 48 deaths per 1000 live births. Healthcare of any kind is almost impossible. All the national healthcare systems are either shut down or, if they’re open, the doctors and nurses may go years without receiving a paycheck.
Support can be provided via our partners in this ministry, Driftwood Church at the Beach and Pastor Eddy. Please note “Haiti Missions” on your donations. 100% of your support goes directly to the needs of these children, their families, and their community.
