Scripture Reading: Ephesians 2:1-10
This week, our hearts were drawn to the foundational truths of our salvation, a powerful reminder of God's grace as we prepare to journey into Galatians 4. Pastor Eddy illuminated the core of our faith, reminding us that our standing with God is a gift, not a debt we can ever repay.
Take a moment to reflect on Ephesians 2:1-3. Can you recall a time when you felt spiritually dead, trapped in patterns of sin and following the world's empty promises? The passage reminds us that we were once "children of wrath." But God, in His immense love, intervened.
Ephesians 2:4-9 beautifully proclaims that "by grace you have been saved through faith." This is not something we earned; it's a gift freely given. Have you truly grasped the depth of this gift? Spend some time today contemplating the immense mercy and love God poured out for you.
We are not saved to sit idly by. Ephesians 2:10 tells us we are "his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works." God has a purpose for each of us. Are you actively seeking to discover and fulfill that purpose? Ask God to reveal the good works He has prepared for you.
Pastor Eddy quoted D.L. Moody and emphasized the importance of maintaining a "heavenly uplook." In our daily lives, it's easy to get caught up in earthly concerns. How can you shift your focus to Christ today? Perhaps through prayer, worship, or meditating on Scripture.
Like Keoni hiding under a blanket, we sometimes hide from God. What "blankets" are you using to shield yourself from His presence? Is it fear, doubt, or unresolved sin? Take a moment to confess these barriers and ask God to remove them.
A Prayer for Preparation:
Lord Jesus, as we prepare to delve into Galatians 4, prepare our hearts to receive your truth. Open our eyes to see the depth of your grace and the purpose you have for our lives. Help us to remove any barriers that hinder our relationship with you. Thank you for your immeasurable love and the gift of salvation. Amen.
Reflection Questions:
Key Verse:
"For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast." - Ephesians 2:8-9 (ESV)
As we move forward into Galatians 4, let us carry the weight of God's grace in our hearts. We are not slaves to the law, but children of God, heirs of His kingdom. May this truth transform our lives and empower us to live for His glory.
